There are lots of ways to make money in Skyrim.



An easy way is to pick herbs and reagents wherever you can find them, and make as many potions as you can out of the ingredients you've gathered. As you skill up in Alchemy, your potions will sell for more and more gold. You can easily turn 2 gold worth of reagents into 10-15 gold when you're starting out, and upward of 50 gold at higher levels.



Arrows are a great way to make money. They have no weight, so there's no excuse not to pick them up wherever you can find them. They are not usually worth a lot, but even if you can sell them for 1-2 gold apiece, you're still money ahead for doing nothing more than looting your kills.



Chores are also decent moneymakers. Wherever you find a mill, mine, or farm, you will usually find work. Mills will pay for wood that you chop, mines will pay you for ore that you harvest, and farms will pay you for wheat that you pick. The owner of the mill/mine/farm will pay you on a per-item basis-- so whatever you have in your inventory you're exchanging to them for pay.



Talk to folks in town. Questing can be very lucrative, with hundreds of gold given for safe return of items, clearing out caves, and besting beasts.
