Do you automatically level up in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or what?

What I mean is, do you automatically level up once you level up enough skills or do you have to sleep in a bed like in Oblivion?Do you automatically level up in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or what?
No, To both.

When you have reached enough skill points to level up, you get a prompt.

To level up you need to enter the skills menu.

If you do not enter the skills menu then your level remains the same (future "experience" is still awarded, but not displayed yet) And anything you encounter will remain the same difficulty until you have levelled up.Do you automatically level up in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or what?
It is not automatic, but you do not have to sleep. When you get enough experience, you will here some shouts, and be prompted to level up, but you can ignore it. when you decide to level up, you will have to decide where to put stat increases, but not perks immedialtly. if you have enough experience to level up more than once, you will have to do ALL the stat increases at the same time. Technically it would be possible to complete all the main/side quests while level oneDo you automatically level up in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or what?
Yep, you level up upon raising a certain amount of skills that contribute to the overall level, then you just open the menu and spend your points.
Automatically.
